Dandeli is located in the Uttar Kannada district in the State of Karnataka, 125 kms. from Panjim (Goa). It is rich in  Flora and Fauna. Its richness and diversity offers ample opporunities to nature lovers to enjoy the captivating landscape. The sanctuary is generally undulating with steep slopes with picturesque deep river valley and rich hilly forest.

The forest with its spurs of the western ghats, the breath taking valleys, regal looking meandering rivers and the splendid scenic beauty of the Syntheri rock make it an awe-inspiring natural beauty. The forest in Dandeli is a typical moist deciduous and semi evergreen trees.


Mammals in sanctuary include wild elephant, Indian gaur, wild boar, sloth bear, tiger, leopard (black panther), wild dog & jackal, Malabar giant squirrel, Malabar pied hornbill, flying squirrel and mongoose are also seen. The most prominent avifauna species in the sanctuary are magpie robin, blue headed ground thrush, golden back woodpecker & Indian cuckoo.


Kavala caves are situated at a distance of 25 kms from the base camp at Dandeli. The ancient Kavala caves is a must see destination for all visitiors who come to Dandeli. The limestone caves are today revered as the abode of Lord Shiva - the Hindu God of Destruction. Crawl into the depths of the earth through the narrow, winding tunnels, and you will come face to face with an awe inspiring display of the nature’s marvel - a gigantic ‘‘Shivling’’ formed naturally.


The Dandeli Jungle safari is organized by Yuvashakti in a batch of 25 participants each on 3 April , 24 April and 15 May 2010.

Day-wise Programme

Day 01    :     Departure from Puneto Londha.

Day 02    :     Reach Londa & proceed to Dandeli. In the evening boating on Kali River / white water rafting.

Day 03    :      Morning Jungle Safari and visit to Kavala Caves.

Day 04    :     Early morning trek to Supe Dam Backwater. Coracle ride in the evening.

Day 05    :     Early morning birdwatching trail. Evening proceed to Pune by bus.

Day 06    :     Arr. Pune.



Fees
The fees for this camp will be Rs. 8,950/- per participant. This will include the entire travelling from Pune to Pune, accommodation at Dandeli (four  persons sharing a room), all meals at Dandeli, jungle rides, entry charges, guide charges. However, food charges during  journey, charges for still camera & movie camera,as levied by the forest department, will have to be borne by the participant.
