Tadoba National Park (116.55 Sq. Kms.) and Andhari wildlife sanctuary (508.85 Sq. Kms.) together form the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve
(625.40 Sq. Kms.) Tadoba National Park is the oldest national park of the State of Maharahtra and since 1993, a Project Tiger Reserve.
It derives its name from the local God, "Taru".

The legend goes that the village chief "Taru" was killed in an epic fight with the tiger. He is worshipped by all the local villagers as the deity of "Tadoba". It is a heaven for wildlife enthusiasts and is a rich, dry, deciduous forest, a great place to walk and enjoy nature. The mesmerizing trails of Tadoba could be a treasured experience of a lifetime. Tadoba has been referred to as the 'Jewel of Vidarbha'.


This splendid museum of flora and fauna holds more than thousand species of birds, animals, insects and other life forms. Apart from the  tiger, Chitals, Sambars, Barking Deers, Chausingas, Neel Gais, Sloth Bears, Indian Gaurs, Wild Dogs, Wild Boars and Leopards are other inhabitants of this beautiful wildlife sanctuary.


Cheetals, Sambars, Neelgais are commonly seen grazing  on roadsides and banks of rivers & reservoirs. Jackals can be seen in search of food anywhere in the park . Packs of wild dogs can also be seen occasionally. Herds of Gaurs can be spotted near streams and bamboo patches, more common during summer months.

The Tadoba Jungle Camp is organized by Yuvashakti in two batches of 25 participants each on 22 April and
03 June '10.

Date-wise Programme

Day - 1      :     Dep. for Wardha. Overnight train journey.

Day - 2      :     Arr.  Wardha  transfer to Tadoba by A/C Vehicle. In the evening, there will be a briefing about the jungle activities.

Day - 3      :     Jeep rides into the Project Tiger area in the morning & evening.

Day - 4      :     Jeep rides into the Project Tiger area in the morning & evening.

Day - 5      :     Early morning jungle ride and transfer to Wardha. Dep. for Pune. Overnight train journey.

Day - 6      :     Arr. Pune.



Fees
The fees for this camp will be Rs. 6,800/- per participant. This will include the entire travelling from Pune to Pune, accommodation  at Tadoba  in dormitories, all meals at Tadoba, jungle rides, entry charges, guide charges. However, food charges during  journey, charges for still camera & movie camera,as levied by the forest department, will have to be borne by the participant.
