Dudhwa Jungle Safari

The northern edge of the reserve lies along the Indo-Nepal border and the southern boundary is marked by the river Suheli. It is home to a large number of rare and endangered species which includes Tiger, Leopard, Wild Elephant, Indian Rhino, Swamp deer, Hispid Hare,
Bengal Florican, etc.
Dudhwa has also the ideal kind of terrain for the Indian rhino. Once found here in large numbers, they had been hunted down and had completely disappeared from this area by 1878. More lately, it was feared that epidemics and disease would wipe out the existing population of rhino in Assam, West Bengal and Nepal and a decision was taken to distribute some in other suitable areas. In an exciting experiment, one male and five female rhinos were relocated here from Assam and Nepal, in 1985. Now well-settled in Dudhwa, their numbers have increased.

The Dudhwa Jungle safari is organized by Yuvashakti in one batch of 25 participantson 14 May 2010.

Date-wise Programme

14 May 09    :     Dep. for Kalyan and proceed to Lucknow by train.

15 May 09    :     Arr. Lucknow and proceed to Dudhwa. In the evening birdwatching trail.

16 May 09    :     Jeep rides in the Core area in the morning & evening.

17 May 09     :     Jeep rides in the Core area in the morning & evening.

18 May 09     :     Early morning nature trail and proceed to Lucknow for night halt.

19 May 09     :     Dep. for Pune by train. Overnight train journey.

20 May 09     :     Arr. Pune.

fees
The fees for this camp will be Rs. 9,500/- per participant. This will include the entire travelling from Pune to Pune, accommodation at Dudhwa (four  persons sharing a room), all meals at Dudhwa, jungle rides, entry charges, guide charges. However, food charges during  journey, charges for still camera & movie camera,as levied by the forest department, will have to be borne by the participant.
