DAY 01: NAIROBI
Welcome to Nairobi, a thriving young city spawned during the construction of the rail line from the Indian Ocean. On arrival into the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you are met and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy a Nairobi city tour that takes you to Nairobi’s ancient landmark buildings-Parliament building, Kenyatta International Conference Center with the monument of 1st founding President of Kenya – Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, and to a lookout point where a spectacular breathtaking view of the city of Nairobi awaits you. The City market, The Railway Museum with exhibition of the old combustive steam engines of 1901 will also be featured. Transfer to an Indian Restaurant for dinner. (D)
DAY 02 NAIROBI – SAMBURU
After breakfast, depart by road to Samburu Game Reserve located at the North rugged Semi desert region. Arrive in time for lunch at Samburu Serena Lodge. Samburu Game Reserve is a wild and little visited region, well known for spectacular scenery and wildlife not found in the south: Reticulated Giraffe, the rare Grevy’s Zebra with its large furry ears, the Gerenuk Antelope standing on its hind legs to feed, and Somali Ostriches with their distinctive blue legs. Proceed for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge/Samburu Sopa Lodge. (B,L,D)
DAY 03 SAMBURU
Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. You may see Elephants, Cheetah, Leopard, Eland, Oryx, Impala, Dikdik, Waterbuck and a variety of birds. This lava plain include a varied landscape of red dirt, thorn scrub, broken volcanic rock, dried riverbeds, steep hills and rocky outcroppings. Following the river’s curves, a forest of Doum Palms, Acacia and Tamarind is a magical contrast of cool green. Other areas of the Reserve include the Uaso Nyiro River where crocodiles sun bath themselves on the banks. It also provides an oasis for a variety of game. Birds are abundant, with 365 species recorded, one for every day of the year. All meals and overnight at Samburu Serena Lodge/Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar. (B,L,D)
DAY 04 SAMBURU – MOUNTAIN LODGE / TREETOPS
This morning, after breakfast, you depart for Mountain Lodge. On arrival, enjoy a delicious lunch at Mountain Lodge. Rest of the night is spent watching different animals as they come to visit the floodlit waterholes and Saltlicks. DAY 05 MOUNTAIN-LAKE NAKURU
After breakfast depart and drive to Lake Nakuru National Park where you will arrive in time for lunch at Lion Hill lodge. Afternoon game drive in the park, visiting the lake shore, the scenic baboon cliff and Makalia falls time permitting. DAY 06 LAKE NAKURU – MASAI MARA
After breakfast depart and drive to Maasai Mara arriving for lunch. Arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Serena Lodge/Mara Sopa Lodge The Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe; over 450 species of animals have been recorded here. You will easily see Lions, Rhinos, Hippos, Crocodiles, Giraffe, Wildebeests, Zebras, Buffalo, Warthogs, Hyenas, and Jackals, Wild dogs, Buffalo, Leopard and a variety of antelopes. It is in the Mara that the most spectacular event of the natural wonders of the world takes place. This is the annual migration of millions of wildebeest and zebra from the Serengeti (Tanzania) in search of water and pasture. Behind their heels are predators of the savanna- Lion, Cheetah, and Wild dog, Jackal, Hyena and Vultures. Depart for an afternoon game drive until dusk. DAY 07 MASAI MARA
You spend a full day in the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives. The trees in the distance might turn out to be a family of Giraffes. Those clump of bushes a pride of Lions, and the rock that moves a Rhino lumbering out of your way. With diligence and some luck, you may encounter a family of Cheetahs, or a herd of Elephants crossing the path in front of you. Large animals are not the only entertainment - a family of warthogs may amuse you, running as fast as their little legs will carry them, until they forget why they are rushing and stop to regroup. DAY 08: MASAI MARA – NAIROBI
After breakfast return to Nairobi arriving early afternoon. Rest of the day is spent at leisure for optional activities. This evening, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your international flight back home. (B)
