Yuvashakti is synonymous to adventure for the youth of Maharashtra. I have learnt a lot of things from my personal experiences on many of the Himalayan treks they conducted. I realized the tremendous difficulties that these people face in organizing such treks and I have also seen how the leaders of Yuvashakti patiently handle every situation. There have been incidents of a few problems due to unavoidable circumstances and tempers have been high. But this is the testing time of the leadership qualities of volunteers and they have sailed smoothly from such incidents.

Seeing a tiger in its natural habitat was a dream for many years. I had travelled all the way to Jim Corbett national park a few years back but was very disappointed when I could see many other animals but not the tiger. Then a friend of mine recommended that joining a wildlife safari with Yuvashakti surely helps. And so, I booked a seat for the Kanha Jungle safari. Almost four jeep safaris were over and there was no sighting. I had almost lost hope and was very unhappy. The group leader then gave a few motivating tips. He also convinced me that more important than sighting a tiger was understanding the wildlife, enjoying other animals and studying their behavior, learning from nature and pledging support for conservation. The following morning I was lucky to sight a tiger for almost half an hour and from thereon I have been coming back to some or the other safari each year. Many thanks to Yuvashakti…

I had seen a slide show of the Everest Base Camp trek in my childhood. From then onwards I had it in my mind. I was looking forward for an opportunity to witness the magnificent mountain. I really didn’t know anyone who could explain to me the difficulties that I may encounter, or the important dos and don’ts on this trek. And then, I came to know from a friend that Yuvashakti has been organizing this trek for the past fifteen years. There was no second thought and I immediately registered myself. Right from the day of my booking, I met all the other participants and we started practice treks. This helped a lot to know each other quiet before the actual event and we all had a fantastic experience. The group leader was a person whom we could bank upon for every minute difficulty, be it a problem in the shoes or a little bit of altitude sickness, at times. He was knowing his job perfectly and he took great care that each one of us reached the top of Mt. Kala Patthar (18,380 ft.) to have a close view of the World’s Highest mountain. I wish good luck for all the adventure programmes that Yuvashakti would be organizing in future.

This was one of the best treks I've ever been on. And as they say, the friends one makes in the mountains always stay. I came to this trek with an excited heart and I'm leaving with a bag full of abundant memories with each one of you.  And I will never forget the morning roll call counts, 6am tea-7am breakfast and 8am movement, the blow of the whistle after every hour and the songs sung by the campfire. Thank you all for making this journey the best by being in it.
