One of the eight "hottest hot-spots" of biological diversity in the world, the Western Ghats run parallel to India’s western coast. Some thirty-nine eco hot spots including national parks, wildlife sanctuaries and reserve forests have been designated in this ever green forest running approximately 1,600 kms through five Indian states and measuring 1,60,000 sq. kms. Munnar has been crowned as the epitome of the Western Ghats. Set at an altitude of 6000 ft. in Idukki district of Kerala, Munnar was the favored summer resort of the erstwhile British rulers in the colonial days. With it’s unending expanse of tea plantations pristine valleys and mountains exotic species of flora and fauna in its wild sanctuaries and forests – it is a place one would always wish to visit and never leave. Munnar got its name from its strategic location at the confluence of three rivers – Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala Rivers. 'Moonu' means 'three' and 'Aru' means 'river'. After years of exploration, Yuvashakti has been able to introduce a beautiful trek in this ‘eco hot spot’. The route traverses through unending tea estates (for which we have acquired a special permission) and some of the least explored ever green forests. It provides a rare opportunity to trek along the bordering areas of two states – Kerala and Tamilnadu.
