What you will see

Roopkund is situated in Chamoli district of Garhwal, at a height of 5029 mtr. in the lap of Trishuli massif. This area is usually called as the 'Mystery Lake', since human skeletons and remains of horses from the Paleolithic age were found here. The lake is surrounded by rock-strewn glacier and snow clad peaks. The trek of Roopkund passes through lush green grassy lands and coniferous forests clinging into the slop of hills. The trek thereafter winds its way along the Pindar river. Bedni Bugyal and Bhaguawasa are the most beautiful places in this trek. Witnessing the very beautiful "Bramhakamal" is a treat to the eyes.

    Departure for Delhi by 12629 / 22685 Sampark Kranti Express from Pune Railway Station at 9 am. Overnight train journey.

    Arr. Delhi at 1.30pm and transfer to Old Delhi Railway Station. Proceed to Kathgodham by Train No 15035 Uttar Sampark Kraniti at 4 pm. Overnight halt at Kathgodham.

    Kathgodam – Lohajung (280kms) - Lohajung is the base camp for Roopkund trek.

    Lohajung – Dinda (8 kms) - A moderately steep climb from Lohajung, we encounter a fairly dense forest of Rhododendrons, which houses a decent population of Fork Tailed Himalayan Magpie. A gentle trek thereon takes us upto Dinda.

    Dinda – Bedni Bhugyal (12 kms) - Over the right shoulder of Dinda, overlooking a few shepherd

    Bedni Bhugyal – Pattarnachani (8 kms) - The last leg of this trek proceeds on a thin line that divides two mountain ranges. Walking here itself is a unique experience. Hereon, we touch the snowline to Pattarnachani Bagubasa.

    Pattarnachani – Baguabasa – A relatively steep climb from Pattarnachani takes us at the base of Roopkund and we camp for the night at Bagubasa.

    Bagubasa – Roopkund – Bedni (14 kms) - The ultimate adventure begins early morning. A few winding upward turns and we are at the Mystery Lake. We retreat from here to Bedni for nighthalt.

    Bedni – Wan - Lohajung - The day continues with a further downhill trek till we reach Wan and proceed to Lohaganj for nighthalt.

    Lohajung – Kathgodam & nighthalt at Kathgodam.

    Full day Nainital sightseeing and dep. For Delhi by bus. Overnight bus journey.

    Arr. Delhi at 9 am at Hotel Sunshin, Karolbag and proceed to Pune by train no 12780 Goa Express. Overnight train journey.

  • 13

    Arr. Pune at 4 pm.
