The trek for Dodital commences from Kalyani in Uttarkashi, which can be approached by bus.
Kalyani to Agoda (2,286 m) is a gradual climb through woods, fields and villages along a mule track.
The 16-km stretch to Dodital from Agoda comprises a trek that goes up gradually through luxurious
woodlands and striking rocky landscapes.

Dodital lake ( 3980 m) is the source of the river Asi Ganga that merges with the river Bhagirathi near Gangotri.
For a fine view of the magnificent Bandarpoonch peak (6387m), you need to climb up a little from the lake.
A further climb also leads to Hanumanchatti, the roadhead to Yamunotri, through the Aineha pass (3667m).
This route offers some of the best views of the Himalaya.
