The Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh and its surrounding mountains are nestled in two beautiful and mighty ranges - Pirpanjal and Dhauladhar. Situated on the left bank of river Beas at an atitude of 1851 Mtrs. Naggar - an ancient town commands extensive views, especially to the North West of the valley. Naggar was former capital of kullu and was founded by Raja Visudhpal. Picture perfect Naggar Valley, with its fertile fields, evergreen thicket and crystal clear gushing waters which set against the backdrop of towering mountains provides everything that an adventure seeker dreams of. The Chandrakhani Pass Trek is a perfect getaway which will keep coming to your mind for a long time.

A list of things to carry

  • 2 Trekking Pants or track pants

  • Daypack (optional if you are offloading the backpack) 

  • Waist Pouch (to keep important things handy) 

  • Woollen Scarf or Buff 

  • Woollen & Cotton socks (4-5 Pairs) 

  • Chappals 

  • Gloves (1 pair woollen, 1 pair waterproof) 

  • Light raincoat or Poncho 

  • Headlamp or Led Torch (with extra batteries) 

  • Trekking Pole (optional) 

  • Water Bottle 

  • Lunch Box 

  • Electoral Powder or ORS or Glucon-D 

  • Sewing Kit (Thread, Needle, Buttons) 

  • Sun glasses (Avoid Blue Shade) 

  • Note book & Pen 

  • Camera (optional) 

  • Toiletries (Sunscreen, Cold Cream, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Shampoo, etc.) 

  • Small and big plastic bags 

  • Backpack Rain cover 

  • Personal medical Kit (Pain Killer, Band-aid, antiseptic cream, cotton)

Fees Include
# Transportation & common accommodation from Pune to Pune. # Vegetarian meals along the trek route from the Base Camp to Base Camp. # Sleeping bag, mattress, tents, kitchen tent, toilet tent, utensils and crampon (if required). # Professional outdoor experts, guide, cook and support staff. # All necessary entry fees and permits. # First aid medical kit. # Porters/mules to carry common equipment.
Fees do not include
# Clothing of personal nature like trek shoes, kit bags, day packs, down jackets and other special clothing etc. # Meals during transit from Pune to Base Camp and back, # Medical expenses (apart from first aid). # Insurance. # Any kind of shopping, mineral water, optional sight-seeing, and any other expenses of personal nature. # Bag offloading charges. # Any expenses arising out of unforeseen circumstances like flight delay / cancellation / hike in fare, strike or any other natural calamities or any emergency evacuation expenses. # Any other item not mentioned in the cost include section.
Important Notes

The railway reservations begin 120 days prior to the date of departure. Hence, all the participants who wish to join this programme from Pune are requested to confirm their participation immediately to facilitate railway reservations.

Tour Plan :

01
Day 1: Delhi → Naggar

Join the batch at Majnu Ka Tila in Delhi at 5.00 pm and proceed to Naggar by Volvo at 5 pm. Overnight bus journey.

Day 2: Naggar → Naggar

Arrival at Naggar in the early morning & transfer to Base Camp. In the day time, we go for an Acclimatization Trek to the Heritage village Naggar. We have an opportunity to visit the Naggar Castle, Roerich Art Gallery and ancient temples of this beautiful town. The day ends with the bon fire after dinner.

Day 3: Naggar → Naggar

The day is spent in adventure activities like River Crossing and Rappelling at the picturesque village Nashala. Post lunch, there shall be a small orientation session about the preparation for the trek. Overnight stay at Naggar Base Camp.

Day 4: Naggar → Steling

Naggar Base Camp - Steling (9,200 feet, 4-5 hrs. trek) - Today, we begin our trek from Naggar and pass through some old villages of the Kullu Valley traversing beautiful meadows and the thick forest of pine and oak. We reach and camp at the beautiful Steling.

Day 5: Steling → Chaklani

Steling - Chaklani (Approx. 10,400 feet 4-5 hrs. trek) - Initially we negotiate a steep ascent through Pine, Oak and Birch trees and then continue through a gradual climb through the breathtaking grassy pastures upto Shedu Pathar and further to the Chaklani which is an open field from where the valley exposes the view of the whole surrounding ranges. Camp at Chaklani. (Camp is surrounded by thick layer of snow in the month of April)

Day 6: Chaklani to Chandrakhani Pass → Chaklani

Chaklani to Chandrakhani Pass (11,800 feet) to Chaklani (10,400 feet 6-7 hrs trek) - Today the trek is a gradual uphill climb through the snowfield till the Chandrakhani Pass, this pass is covered with snow till end of May - a true heaven for nature lovers. The high peaks of Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal Ranges are in your full view. We descend back to Chaklani camp in the evening for an overnight stay.

Day 7: Chaklani → Naggar

Chaklani to Naggar - The return journey to the Base Camp is a descent up-to Naggar that passes through beautiful meadows, forests and old villages of the Kullu valley.

Day 8: Naggar → Delhi

Optional rafting adventure trip or half day free for sightseeing and visit to Manali and proceed to Delhi by bus in the evening. Overnight bus journey.

Day 9: Delhi → Delhi

Arrival at Delhi and proceed for onward journey home
