Dharamshala Triund Trek

The Triund Trek is a popular, beginner-friendly 9 km (one-way) hike from McLeod Ganj (near Dharamshala) offering stunning views of the Dhauladhar range and Kangra Valley. Taking 4–6 hours, it is ideal for a weekend, featuring dense oak/rhododendron forests and culminating in a scenic meadow at 2,875m. 


Why Trek to Triund?
Triund is often called the "crown jewel of Dharamshala" because of its breathtaking, close-up views of the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains on one side and the sprawling Kangra Valley on the other. It is considered one of the most accessible Himalayan treks for beginners, making it a perfect weekend getaway.

  • Location: McLeod Ganj/Dharamkot, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Duration: 1 Day (approx. 4-6 hours ascent).
  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate.
  • Altitude: 2,875 meters (approx. 9,432 feet).

Best Time to Visit: March to June and September to December. 

Essential Tips for Trekkers

  • Accommodation: Camping is available, with options for pre-booked tents or hiring local guides for ₹1000 per night.
  • Network/Electricity: There is no electricity, and mobile networks can be weak or non-existent at the top.
  • Packing Essentials: Bring warm clothing (even in summer, nights are cold), sturdy trekking shoes, a first-aid kit, enough water, and snacks.

Safety: The trail is well-marked and safe for solo trekkers.
